Co-Creating Change Growth & Replication Commissions are now open

We are excited to announce that Co-Creating Change Growth & Replication Commissions are open for submissions.

Who are they for?

Co-Creating Change Growth & Replication Commissions are for established projects which use co-creation to effect real social change, and which are ready to grow or to replicate in new locations. Commissions are open to everyone, whether or not they are part of the Co-Creating Change network.

They are not designed to support conventional participatory arts projects, in which people are invited to join in with the work of an artist or organisation, or for brand new projects without a proved record of effective change. Instead, they are designed to support methodologies/processes which see people and partners working together to create, and that are ready to be taken to the next stage.

What is their aim?

The aim of these commissions is to explore the possibility of an increased infrastructure for the scaling and spreading of co-created methodologies, in the same way that there is already a well-developed and understood infrastructure for touring shows. These Growth & Replication Commissions are the beginning of this exploration, both by directly supporting some co-created processes to scale up, and also by gathering learning from the process of doing so in order to make this easier for the arts and cultural sector as a whole.

How is it going to work?

This is the only round of Growth & Replication Commissions, and we will be awarding 5 commissions in total. The selection process is broken down in multiple stages:

1.Expressions of Interest: now open, deadline is on Friday 16th October 2020, 5pm UK time.

2. Workshop: we will shortlist up to 12 EOIs. Selected applicants will be asked to attend a compulsory  workshop (via Zoom) on Friday 6th November 2020. The workshop will focus on what we will be looking for in successful applications, e.g. how to build a robust business plan/budget, co-creation partnerships, and evaluation.

3. Final Application: all shortlisted candidates who took part in the workshop will be offered up to £750 to develop their application and build partnerships for replication and growth. Application deadline on Friday 11th December 2020, 5pm UK time.

4. Interviews: a panel will interview the strongest candidates on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th December. Successful applications to be announced on Monday 21st December 2020.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying for a commission, please download and read the Growth & Replication Commissions Guidelines before sending a completed Growth & Replication EOI and Agency Scale to before the deadline on Friday 16th October.

You may find it useful to look at these two examples of completed Agency Scales before filling in your own:
• The Agency
• BAC Homegrown

These are two existing projects at BAC which are used as examples here in order to demonstrate how the Agency Scale tool works. You can see that The Agency, with a 57/43 weighting, is a co-creation project, whereas BAC Homegrown, with an 85/15 weighting, is not.

If you have any questions about the process, please do get in touch with Marina on .
